Intimacy, Culture & Identity With Babbu The Painter

Anokhi Pulse TV Dec 21, 2015

Artist, Babneet Lakhesar uses artistic expression as a way to challenge and take a deeper look into aspects of the South Asian culture such as culture, sexuality and identity.

Women, as artistic subjects have been used as muses in various different art forms around the world, each culture and each artist giving new meaning to what it means to be a woman. For Babneet, her main objective is to place women on a global sphere through her work and provide an introspective look into their world by challenging common notions and stereotypes within the South Asian culture. She does this by adopting an alternative identity, an artistic one known as Babbu The Painter.

While Babneet may evoke and adhere to cultural stereotypes and challenge them at times, its the artistic muse that is Babbu The Painter which allows Babneet to bravely explore social, religious and cultural concepts and challenges through her art work. ANOKHI PULSE TV gets a chance to speak to Babneet about her art work and her identity as Babbu The Painter.
